Personal Favourite #Highschool-Themed Drama

Salam Ramadan to all Muslims......I am now back after (almost) a year on hiatus and have been missing blogging so freaking much. So, figuring what my next post personally means a lot that i've decided to blog on my all-time obsession ~drama~. To commemorate (or shall i say to cure my so-called withdrawal syndrome) on the not-so recently ended, 'School 2015: Who Are You?' on KBS WORLD and the ongoing Kdrama `Orange Marmalade', i'm sharing my dramalist (in no particular order along with my rating) of personal favourite High school-Themed Drama watched so far. The eligibility of such dramas that have made into this list satisfied BELOW conditions:

1) There are mainly J/KDRAMA as i've mostly watched high school drama that are produced by these two countries.

2) These dramas are set majorly in HIGH SCHOOL or directly/indirectly involved with ISSUES FACED BY 'HIGH SCHOOLERS'

3) It can and may include ANY GENRE - Rom com, slice of life, thriller, etc.

So, feel free to browse the list!

Nobuta Wo Produce is one of my earliest watched Jdrama. Starring top J-Idols 'Yamashita Tomohisa (YamaPi) from NEWS and KAT-TUN's Kamenashi Kazuya as the two leads, this jdrama remains my MOST ENTERTAINING (and warm) High-school drama. Why? It's touching and fun at the same time without having toooooo much of slapstick jokes & it covers issues like bully, popularity, first love, friendship, chasing dream in an enjoyable and lighter tone. Hence, what could be clichés (these two male students transforming an outcast played by Maki Horikita to be the next popular girl) turn out to be fresh moments of fun and laughter without being overdose.

MY RATING: ★★★★

It is typical for idols to be cast in a high school drama. Similarly, this kdrama, too, follows the same formula by casting T-ARA's Jiyeon & former MBLAQ's Lee Joon along with other teen stars, Hong Jong Hyun, Shin Soyul, Kim Bo Ra as a group of friends who are investigating the cause of their best friend - Baek Hyo An's sudden death. I've read somewhere that this second season actually follows similar focus to the first one (which starred top stars like the younger Kim Soo Hyun and Park Boyoung). I won't be able to comment on that though (haven't get the chance to watch yet!) However, Jungle Fish 2 was my 1st revelation to the dark side of Korea's education - the parental/societal pressure to ensure their children attain wondrous academic achievement...as well as other social issues like teen pregnancy, school dropout, etc. Definitely a darker tone of a not-so typical high school/teenage angst drama.

MY RATING: ★★★ 1/2

Another typical characteristics of a high school drama - it is usually a manga adaptation and has been turned into live action for a few versions (Taiwanese or China)... Same goes for Hanazakari no Kimitachi e or easily known as Hana Kimi - a story of a girl who dresses up as a boy to go to the exclusively for hot boys school that her idol, Sano, a high jumper attends, which is also loosely based on popular manga that has earlier been adapted into a Taiwanese ver. I've watched that version & ditched it halfway (quite a phenomenal at that time and yet, i was not-so into it!). So when i heard that it gonna get a Japanese adaptation (the original creator's country) i slightly wish it'll better. How right i was! It was THE FUNNIEST HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA EVER!!!! the actors are perfectly cast in their roles though the acting is a little over-the-top, but that's the uniqueness of this drama...i can still digest their exaggeration attempt at humour. All in all, this J-ver of Hana Kimi make me feels more like "watching" a manga or an anime, except with real live actors...and i'm loving it!

MY RATING: ★★★★

I've remembered how suffering i was withdrawing from this Kdrama after it ended....i was so attached to it. Though i got attracted of watching it as my kpop bias was selected to play the lead role *cough* Suzy *cough* and being a huge supporter of JYP Nation, i can't help but look forward to it when it airs! Nevertheless, viewer can never not feel so (kpop vibe) as this kdrama has the maximum influence of Kpop all over it! Dream High is basically a high school drama + musical + kpop. Despite heavily bombarded with idols as the lead (excluding Kim Soo Hyun) all of them have done surprisingly well although lack of acting experience. I liked it a lot actually that i cried, i laugh and i smile watching all 16 episodes. The drama was very well written that it never felt like it was getting draggy. Backed with a GREAT (personally my all-time favourite) soundtrack, Dream High is fresh, fun and truly an inspiring one... .Heck, it’s one of my favourite Kdramas, period.

MY RATING: ★★★★★

FYI, the 1st drama that popped into my mind when i think of a high school drama is LIFE. In short, this Japanese drama mainly focus on School bully, yet issues like selfharm, rapes, suicide, depression, manipulation, corruption, etc are slowly unfold as each character and the story line are develop. This was probably among  the darkest Jdrama i have seen so far (which includes Byakuyakou, Last Friends, etc). Before 'LIFE' i've never seen a drama about bullying in school this intense....this Jdrama really delves into human nature and shows the emotions/mind of those involved - the bully, victims and those around them. Not to promote bullying, LIFE has such an important message. It really was my eye-opener on bullying and Japanese delivers what it does best through this drama - showing the reality, realistically! Kudos to the drama team! and for the actors (Kitano Kii, Saki Fukuda, Megumi Seki, etc) - all of you did an amazing job

MY RATING: ★★★★★

White Christmas is a visually stunning, psychological thriller that premiered in 2011 as an eight-episode under KBS’s drama special series. Despite it's title, White Christmas isn't any romantic melo....or a christmas tale of any sort....this Kdrama explore one of the biggest question in life, are 'monsters' born, or are they made? Are we, humans, merely what we were born to be, or are we the consequences of our own choices? The story was so brilliantly engaging, yet was able to fit into ONLY 8 episodes! White Christmas tells a story of 7 students and a teacher who remain at school for the winter break. Joining them is a psychiatrist who was forced to take shelter as he was involved in a car accident nearby. As horror awaits them, these students realize that the anonymous letters they each received in prior were not the result of a harmless prank. White Christmas is the debut for most leading stars of today's drama (Kim Woo Bin, Sung Joon, etc). Even though they were very much new at that time, all of them did an amazing job in this horror suspense thriller. Plot wise, FANTASTIC! Thank you for keeping me guessing in every episode....

MY RATING: ★★★★★

Just like Hana Kimi, the popular shoujo manga Itazura na Kiss has repeatedly being adapted or shall i say 'reincarnated'. The first live-action was 1996 Jdrama of the same name (have never watch it..) followed by Taiwanese version -  It Started with a Kiss (and the sequel They Kiss Again) - that i've watch and learn to love, then came the Kdrama version  'Playful Kiss' (watched only a few episodes before ditching it half-way) and finally the most recent incarnation, the Jdrama 2.0, 'Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo'. As a big fan of the Taiwanese version I was a bit reluctant on watching this. However I am glad I gave it a chance.....this is indeed a really good remake. Both leads (Honoka Miki and Furukawa Yuki) are doing justice to each of their characters as well as their believable chemistry. Viewers can't help but feel empathize with the characters as though they’re real. The production team has successfully creates an effective feel-good atmosphere throughout the drama despite all the risks of it being too cliché. Heck..I’m happy that I spent some time on this Jdrama, period.

MY RATING: ★★★1/2

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS KDRAMA!!!! It is my MOST 'RELATABLE' DRAMA...and I'm sure that any fangirl would feel the same way as i do. Growing up in the late 90s to Mid 2000s, i've experienced what Sung Shi Won did (except that i was not much of the fan of Kpop 1st generation....) i was, too, a huge fan of boy bands in that era- Backstreet Boys, N SYNC, WESTLIFE, BLUE, BOYZ II MEN.....and still am right till this moment (but now majorly a Kpop fangirl - the transition that i've gone through was further explained here). I just loved how believable characters were portrayed - All the actors were so natural....every scene that they are together really brought back memories of having THAT small group of friends who you spent a lot of time together, and who were more special than any of your regular friends....missing it so much! Seo In Guk and Apink's Jung Eun-ji (both are my bias!!!!!) had fantastic (*sizzling*) chemistry in this Kdrama...and also Kudos to Shin Soyul, Infinite's Hoya, Lee Sieon and Eun Ji Won, who surprisingly blended well with these much younger cast.... all the meta references about his idol days were totally funny.... FYI, It was the first time that I liked the parents as much as the leading cast, bravo Sung Dong-Il & Lee Il-Hwa!!! In Short, Answer Me 1997 is truly a masterpiece....The story is both genuinely funny and heartwarming....you will REGRET NOT WATCHING IT, period.

MY RATING: ★★★★★

The Gokusen series (season 1, 2 & 3) is a REALLY ENJOYABLE AND ADDICTIVE Jdrama!. This manga-turnaed Jdrama is a story on  Yamaguchi Kumiko (Nakama Yukie), better known as Yankumi a new teacher at a male high school in Japan where she is assign on class with the most rebellious group of students. She is full of hope and determination to teach them well much to their annoyance and hostility.Unknowing to these students, Yankumi is actually the grand daughter of the head of a powerful Yakuza clan and could easily threaten them. So, in each episode, she will helps a new and different student with their problems by either kicking ass or talking her way out of it (sound typical right?!...'multiply' that three times and you will get a formulaic drama. However, the stories are still entertaining, and often hilarious, not to mention all the gorgeous cast (Yankumi's Students are either play by Idol-actors or good-looking boys). To summarize, this drama was good. not perfect, but worth watching, although a little formulaic.

MY RATING: ★★★ 1/2

You cannot skip the 'School' series when talking about high school drama. School 2013 is the fifth installment of KBS's "School" series which aired from 1999 through 2002 (never got the chance of watching any of them....but i do know this series has a good reputation of debuting today's top Kstars). I have no expectation but from the first episode I got hooked straight away! It was just fantastic from the first episode. If the rest of high school dramas deal with more with student's problem, in School 2013 viewers don't only see how the students are having it, but also the problems teachers are facing and how they struggle in making big decisions as a teacher. The lack of romance is definitely one of it's strengths. By not adding romance to the overall flow, it allowed this drama to reach another level of friendship that isn't typically seen in any other dramas. The relationship between Go Nam Soon (Lee Jong Suk) and Park Heung Soo (Kim Woo Bin) was phenomenal!!!! and one of best reasons to watch 'School 2013'. Their bromance kept me going, making me laugh, cry, and mad when things didn't go right ..In overall, 'School 2013' was a drama where the story really came on strong and tugged our heartstrings at it's best!

MY RATING: ★★★★★

Finally the 'Hanadan/BOF' Combo.....adapted from the best-selling Manga of the same name - Hana Yori Dango. Both dramas are actually the Japanese and Korean versions of this manga's live action drama. Although the stories are virtually identical, there are enough differences to make each drama a worthy viewing even if one is already familiar with the basic plot line. The Korean version is more glamorous, with beautiful sets, exotic locations, incredible fashion style, and the actors are more physically beautiful, which enhances their aura as a group of super-cool, privileged young men. Nevertheless, the Japanese version stands out because of the acting. Here, our OTP is much more demonstrative and direct with their feelings. I first became a fan of the Japanese version (i've even introduced it to my clique back in high school and they all ended loving it too) and I was sooooooooooooo looking forward for the Korean version just right after it was announced..... 'dedicatedly' followed the pre-production till it finally being broadcast. What else should i say....I loved, loved, loved both versions (including the Japanese's FINAL movie). I am now a fan of it's manga. You just can't help but fall for the usual-poor-simple-girl-who-has-to-work-hard-with-family-struggles-but-still-triumphs-persevering-with-a-smile-and-has-a-extremely-rich-famous-guys-falls-in-love-with-her plot...whew~ I feel the heartache and confusion all the characters feel as they deal with this love triangle... It was such an entertaining ride to the very end.

2nd Blogaversary : Another year in review

Here we go again....Alhamdullilah, 2 years has passed by from the day (see this) that I've finally decided to pour my heart & soul (....and time) into blogging (believe me, it takes a 'lot' of self-motivation & passion to come this far) and the experience has been wonderful~ I love the fact that i'm constantly learning new things bout blogging and always putting my creativity to work. So far, it has been worth the effort. I truly enjoy blogging despite time inadequacy. If you ask me, what have i achieved so far through blogging...it is the non-describable, satisfactory feeling that i get right after i've posted something....certainly, no money can buy that~ Nevertheless, i am still a midst of seeking new 'things' to be 'part' of this blog. And again, i gotta admit of my 'not-so-tech-savvy' ability has slowed down the 'knowledge seeking' process which contributing largely into time consumption

So far, noticeable changes made to this blog focused more on the font type, widgets and etc. Another of my so-called little achievement on this blog during the past year are the BLOG PAGES....I've succeed in completing all of them...yeay....check  these three pages -> 대한민국 ♥ME, Drama-holic, Popcorn, anyone?

Recalled back, i have once mention/posted my blogging's goals exactly a year ago (remember this?) So, did i achieved them all? Let see....

  • To write a book review                                                      ☒   T_T
  • To continue improving my blog creatively!                       ☑  i think i did, right?
  • To write about my personal trips..                                    ☑  HERE
  • To gain more followers! (at least 2 more followers)         ☒  Only 1 new addition
  • To make a movie review                                                    ☑  HERE

Looks like i did a pretty decent job here (^_^)...hehehe. I do have an explanation for not writing any book review though....i  have not read any new ones since i am too coped out with my academics (sadly, being a final year student has taken so much of my leisure time away...huhuhuhu) and i am not too fond of writing an academic book review here...no way~ So, goals for next year? ummmm...maybe not anything definite....Due to time constraints (student's life is hard...i guess working life will be even harder ( ..•˘___˘• .. ) I may not be able to post new contents as frequent as i used to be....but, i will try not neglect it for too long...i love this blog and i shall return soon. Till then, Happy 2nd 'Blogaversary', Snow Angel's Playhouse~ May there will be more wonderful blogging years to come! ❤ ↖(^▽^)↗ ❤

"I have nothing left, but I will go to the ends of the earth for you" - Historien om en Moder

Lately, it has been a likable trend for top rated Kdrama focusing on specialized genre dramas (minus all the romance factor cliches that often surrounding them). 3 Days, Gap-dong, God's gift-14 Days are among of those dramas that have captured audience attention for its story line created on a specific genre like mystery/thriller, Crime solving or politics. One of the aforementioned drama has largely drawn my likeness. Now, after 16 episodes full of twist and turns, it finally come to an end (it has ended around a month ago in South Korea though)...and that drama is -> God's Gift-14 Days.

Having read about the concept of a mother's love interpreted in a mystery/thriller way got me excited even from the beginning. They are not quite your typical Kdrama combo and the likelihood of it to be good are high when they casted Lee Bo Young as the mother who's daughter got kidnapped and later killed. I'm just too glad that she will be in that i've decided to put this drama on my watch list.....

God's Gift- 14 Days centers on Kim Soo Hyun's (Lee Bo Young) quest in saving her only daughter, Han Saet Byul (Kim Yoo Bin) when she was miraculously given a second chance to change this fate (having her daughter kidnapped on live TV and later drowned to death), however just 14 Days before it happens....again. This miracle journey, yet also involved Ki Dong Chan's (Jo Seung Woo) own personal struggle when his brother (suffer from a mental disability) was convicted of murdering his girlfriend, Soo Jung and soon will face a death sentence. These two plots seem unrelated at first but as audience go through the 14 days journey, it shall be reveal that they are very much related and the mystery behind this is what tying them....and even others who are close to them TOGETHER. In short, all of the characters are FATEDly related to one another. Sounds complicated? try watching it for those who have not....definitely a wild roller-coaster ride that is stressing, yet entertaining~

So, for the final episode or shall i refer as the 'fill-in-the-blanks' finale supposedly bring me some clarity to my hectic mind caused by too much guessing and thinking for the past 15 episodes....however, only ended up with a set of complicated explanations/answers to the overall mystery.....In other words, the ending was somehow CONFUSING. Imagine watching a drama that is about to end in any minutes, still going in a wrong/complicated way where you can't seem to know how it is going to be. *a sad fact but true indeed... i was still grasping the overall situation when the closing credits starts* If you mean by unpredictable ending...this is far more than that. SPOILER ALERT: So, Ki Dong Chan, FATEDLY is the murderer (not like he wants to but that's how it is turn to be...sob...sob. He later sort of killed himself in order to protect her? How is that even rational? How is that 'saved her'? felt that there were few scenes supposedly tightened up the whole ending has been somehow 'chopping out' deliberately. Definitely not the kinda of ending that is neatly and tightly done. Is not that i want him to live or end up romantically with Soo Hyun/ wait 10 years for Saet Byul to grow older whatsoever.....i just want closure, how everything unfolded....and JUSTICE TOO. The drama revolve heavily on how a mother will do anything for her child, So, is it OK for a mother to protect her son's crime by endangering another child's life? Since these whole 'tragedy' was due to that, will those behind it still have a peaceful lives? I can only let my imagination play it's part @_@

In terms of acting performance, all the three leads play an amazing job. Lee Bo Young showcase her emotion pains as a mother who knew she going to lose her daughter and will do anything to prevent that. Her action (even seems reckless at a time) shows her desperation to save the child. Bravo~ And the Knight, (without the shining armour though) Jo Seung-woo was SUPERB~ Despite not being another pretty face/hot heroic persona, his sincere acting carries the drama that audience can't help being drawn to this imperfect character of 'Ki Dong Chan'. Kim Yoo Bin, the adorable girl with great potentials interprets the mischievous little girl 'Han Saet Byul' convincingly and wonderfully.

Last but the least.....BARO..OMG this idol-turn-actor from B1A4 captured my attention from the 1st episode even though i barely know him in B1A4. It has always been a challenge to play a disability character for any actor specially new actors and he did good job at it that one cannot help falling in love with 'Young Gyu' (now whenever i see him on other programs, all i see is Young Gyu -not- Baro *sigh*)

Despite the ending, i enjoy the overall 'ride'.....it has been a non-stop thrilling and enjoyable 16 episodes....totally engaging that i  never feel bored at all. At first, i regard this drama as a great pieces of puzzle that i try relentlessly to solve. However, towards the end, it is describe as a complicated Rubik cube that i eventually put it away so that others can do it.....AKA i slowed down on the guessing game and went with the flow after so much torture i get by all the twists from EACH episode. Who would've thought that a mere child kidnapping case could have been much more complicated than ever~

To sum up, God's Gift-14 Days is a one-of-a-kind quick paced time travel/mystery/fantasy/thriller/crime melodrama highly injected by the undying love a mother, making it a Kdrama that stands apart from other time slipping clichés. For those who have not checked it out....i am totally recommending it...and enjoy all the twists~

Baking time!

Another 'FIRST' post entry....and this time it revolves around my not-so-great baking skill. I did baked few pastries, desserts & cakes out of curiosity (& hunger) but it does not always produced 'the best' outcome - it sure does edible though~ So, the past two-three weeks, i have been attempting a simple, yet fulfilling pastry called BREAD PUDDING -> my own version. The idea of modifying the original and typical recipe for a normal bread pudding came a month ago, after a short trip to a vintage-themed cafe in town. Unlike the typical bread pudding, the cafe served it in an aluminium cup....and it taste OK...but my dad keeps on complaining on how stale the bread was. That eventually gave idea for this so-called improvisation and i'm glad that my family likes it~

MINI BREAD PUDDING [BASIC] (6 servings)

2 pieces of bread (fresh one)
225 ml of Fresh Milk
2 tablespoons of  Sweetened Creamer
A drop of Vanilla Essence
1 egg

How?
1. Toast the bread (REMINDER: Restraint from toasting it too long as to prevent the hard texture).
2. Tear the toasted bread into small pieces (no need to be precise) and fill it in the aluminum cup.
3. Preheat the oven to 250
4. For the sauce, beat the egg, fresh milk and sweetened creamer together with a drop of Vanilla essence.
5. Pour it over the bread.
6. Bake it for 20-25 mins (or until the sauce thickened).
7.  Best to be served while it is hot. (I usually pour my 'secret sauce' on top to give an extra sweetness.

Bear in mind that the recipe above does not include sugar at all as i served it with my homemade sauce that i can't reveal it at the moment. Therefore, do add sugar around 1 tablespoon (more or less according to your taste buds).

There you go....hope you'll like it. Happy baking y'all~

Movie Face-Off: Southeast Asian's Big Scale Tear-jerkers

Recently during the public holiday, i was fortunate to be given time (finally) watching 2 big-scale tearjerker movies from the 2 Giants of Southeast Asia -> Thailand & Indonesia. It was a pleasurable experience and i can't stop myself from having so many thoughts about it after each movies ended that I've decided to write *type* my own review/opinions for these two movies.

Based on a extremely popular best-selling novel, 'Khu Kam’ or ‘Sunset At Chaophraya (2013)' is basically a love story that took place during the World War II between a Japanese Officer, Kobori and a local Thai girl named Angsumalin (to whom he refer as Hideko). I had no idea how big this novel was until i began spazzing  it right after the movie ended. And to my surprise, it was HUGELY SUCCESSFUL - well, the book is, sadly not the movie....In short, Khu Kam is one of the greatest Thai romance novels by Thommayanti and due to its overwhelming popularity, it has been continuously adapted to both smaller and larger screens AKA dramas & movies since 1973 (for movie version) and 1990 (for lakorn)....That's very much explain why the movie was not that successful and highly criticized comparable to its predecessors (when one watch too much of the same story in different version, sorta unavoidable to compare, right?).

Storyline: Kobori's love at first sight to Angsumalin wasn't well accepted by her....She practically rejected him....*more like playing hard to get* and the whole movie centers on his pursuit in winning her heart (SPOILER ALERT: ....the rejection continues even after they are legally married as secret of her being a member of ‘Free Thai Movement’ (a Thai underground group of activists working against Imperial Japan) was slowly revealed and the presence of her 'other' man prior to their serious relationship .... So, overall you got a typical local-like drama plot...*if you're a Malaysian, you'll understand what i mean - a boy who loves the girl so much despite her coldness to him, later marries her and became the best husband ever Yet, she still coldly rejecting him is the kinda plot which Malaysian sure loves a lot*....the only difference is the whole war environment setting. But no worries to those who are likely to concern more on the romance and not the war situations (exactly like me) you get the satisfaction as the movie tend to be ONLY on the romance side.

Mood: Initially, i got a little bit confuse on which mood the movie is heading to - romcom? melo? the first 5 minutes, audiences were served with an opening that are more or less relax, indicating a romcom AKA romantic comedy.....and it just stop there while rest of the movie literally moved into a direct tearjerker direction. I appreciate the director's intention to insert the cheery and relaxing opening however it was not well blended unlike my favourite movies Windstruck (Kmovie) and My Sassy Girl (Kmovie) -> both are romcoms blended well with the surprise tear jerking elements at the movie's halftime. Due to its different genre, it is not fair for me to directly compare them (this movie and those two). Nevertheless, since this is a tearjerker one and it did make me cry.....therefore succeed in fulfilling that 'requirement'.

OST: Like the Japanese ending theme song but not the best one that i've heard so far.

Acting: I like Nadech Kugimiya's portrayal of Kobori (without comparing of other actors who have played the same character). As Kobori, he convincingly play out the character of a Japanese navy officer who tries really hard to win this Thai girl’s heart. There are however a few miss and hits and gotta admit Nadech is such an eye-candy *blame me for having soft spot for any flower boy*. For Amarawadee Decabales who played Angsumalin, i'm sorry but it was weak...There was lack of coldness but just felt pure emotionless to me. Angsumalin is a cold character struggling with her inner emotions, but from what i see she did not interpreted that complicated role convincingly. Overall, i felt that there was still a lot more gap in their chemistry (definitely need to work more on that).

Overall impression: Enjoyable and likely to be watch again however, it could have been a better movie.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another movie based on a best-seller book, a biopic of Indonesia's 3rd President Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie about his beloved wife, Hasri Ainun Habibie. Yes...it's a love story and it comes with a title 'Habibie & Ainun' - an Indonesia blockbuster hit back in 2012. It becames the only Indonesian box office with the most number of audiences in the theaters till date in the Indonesia Film Industry, 4.7 million viewers -> according to Wikipedia. Unlike 'Khu Kam', Habibie & Ainun is a retell of true events center around Habibie's marriage life as well as his brief moments as Indonesia President. He actually wrote this autobiography as a tribute/loving devotion to his wife who has passed away in 2010. So, that pretty much hinted audience of the sad ending. Nevertheless, this does not stop people from liking both the books and movie.

Storyline: It's a simple boy meets girl story (both are undeniably knowledgeable) sets in the 60s. An exception to the typical tragic story of a lost young love, the focus is their marriage life - the ups and down of a young couple living in Germany (he was still studying in Germany when they got married) the sacrifices, the pain, the loneliness when he returned to Indonesia and the temptation of wealth and power during most of his government service. In short, the movie depicts 'a truly match made in heaven' sorta relationship to these two protagonist and the challenges they've undergone throughout their marriage life, pretty much showcase the reality of any marriage couple would somehow meet along the way. A truly good reality check indeed.

Mood: From the start, the movie has clearly indicate the the 'autobiograhical + tear jerking' mood to audience. Each scene was arranged in a organize way that plays well with the audience's emotion - starting with the playful school years to sweet reunion leading to the blessed marriage ceremony follow by their struggling challenges and how they overcome it. The movie touches audience's heart easily without going 'too far'. In short, the story was told  story in a very touching way which i truly appreciate and adore..which brought me to tears.

OST: Melly + Anto Hoed's team never fail to impress me. Love the songs but it may not be as memorable as their previous hit.

Acting: Two thumbs up to Reza Rahadian for his great interpretation and representation of Habibie -> mentally and physically in terms of both gestures and his peculiar way of talking. It was so convincing that i did not 'recognize' Reza at all...yay....despite not knowing much about Mr. President, i admire this guy...(he may be not an eye candy but surely a good inspiration to all man out there). For Bunga/BCL, she did well in portraying Ainun. I have not watch any of her movie except 'Saus Kacang'...and from what i see, her performance has progressed well....(SPOILER ALERT: just that she look a bit too young for a 72 years old woman during 2nd half of the movie). In terms of chemistry, there is an incredible good chemistry between these two.

Overall impression: A truly 'Perfect' love story...and a real inspiration to all. Likable to be watched again (and again with tears).

On a side note, for those (if there is anyone that happened to stumble upon this post) who got attracted to Khu Kam's storyline like me, you may try watching Bie & Noona's 2013 drama/lakorn version with the same name. Believe me, you'll like it....similarly like me now <3
